Safety with neodymium magnets: 10 simple rules for safe use and storage

Neodymium magnets are extremely powerful for their size, which is why they require responsible handling. Most accidents occur due to overconfidence: two pieces that “shoot” at each other, a magnet that breaks when struck, or an oversight near children or sensitive devices. With these basic rules, you will be able to work and store them safely.

Keep a distance between powerful magnets: if you bring them closer without control, they can slam shut and pinch hard.
Protect your hands: For medium/large magnets wear gloves when separating or aligning them.
Use eye protection when appropriate: a magnet can splinter on impact and throw fragments.
Do not leave them within reach of children: they are dangerous from pinching and, if ingested, can cause serious injuries.
Avoid bumps and falls: Neodymium is hard but fragile, and the coating can be broken or damaged.
Be careful with electronics: keep them away from cell phones, disks, magnetic stripe cards and sensitive equipment.
Attention with pacemakers and implants: People with medical devices should keep their distance and consult professional indications.
Separate and store with separators: cardboard, plastic or spacers help to avoid collisions and control contact.
Avoid moisture and aggressive conditions: if the coating is damaged, corrosion may appear over time.
Plan the assembly: if there is vibration, movement or critical load, combine magnet + mechanical fastening (screws, brackets, stops) for greater safety.

Working with neodymium magnets is simple when these precautions are respected. If you have doubts about which size or format is safer for your application, consult us and we will recommend an appropriate option.
